Last year I held my own foray in the New Forest. I do believe it was a great success so I have set aside two days for this year to do the same. The dates are: Friday 10th and Sunday 19th October. The venues are yet to be decided but at least one will be in the New Forest.
If you are interested in coming on one of these them please send me an email.
The day will start at 10:30am and there will be much foraging until it gets dark. I will identify things as we find them (when I can!) and we will have a big (I hope) labelled display of all our finds at the end of the day. I will somehow supply a good picnic lunch for everyone which we may have to eat in the pouring rain. All part of the fun. Of course we will also be eating any edibles we find.
The foray will cater for nearly all levels of expertise from the absolute beginner to the experienced forager. Professors of mycology will only be welcome if they announce their profession before the foray starts!
The cost would be £80 per person (including lunch) children £15. I will be restricting the numbers to a cosy maximum of 14 adults per day. I will probably also have to put a limit on the number of children but we will see how things go.
Just to whet your appetite here is our “show and tell” table from last year’s John’s foray in the New Forest and a superb Pholiota adiposa we found.
